About the Artist 

Candida Höfer was born in Eberswalde, Germany in1944. She graduated from the Dusseldorf Academy of Fine Arts where she studied first film and then photography at Bernd Becher's class. Her works have been exhibited among other places at the Basel Art Museum, the Bern Museum of FineArts, the Portikus Frankfurt am Main, at New York's MOMA,and Cologne’s Museum Ludwig. In 2002, she participated in the 11th Kassel documenta. In 2003,along with the late Martin Kippenberger, Höfer represented Germany at the VeniceBiennial. In 2013 and 2015, the artist had solo exhibitions at DüsseldorfMuseum Kunstpalast and St. Petersburg’s Hermitage Museum respectively. The artist lives in Cologne.
