Inna Art Space (Zhuantang) is presenting artist Chen Xinyu’s solo project, “Blue Spike”. The project opens at 3 PM on October 12, 2025, and will be on view until November 12. This presentation brings together multiple bodies of Chen’s recent work across mediums such as wearable art, painting, and installation, exploring propositions concerning identity, order, perceptual illusions, and materiality that arise from her personal experiences.
Chen Xinyu’s work simultaneously possesses a sense of aggression and vulnerability, chaos and extreme order, filled with meandering clues and secrets. The fragmentation of masses and the splicing of particles create deliberate explosions and meticulous reorganization within a well-ordered system. Sharp “spikes” and tentacles form a defensive posture that seems impervious to violation—perhaps a manifestation of the artist's establishment and protection of personal boundaries during her transition. The precise inlay of countless mosaic fragments constitutes a macro-defense built from micro-sequences, revealing a deeper methodology in her creative practice: beneath a chaotic surface often lies a rigorous structure housing the inner self.
