Inna Art Space is pleased to present Wrath Blaze Ferocity Mirage Abyss, a solo exhibition by artist Chen Dongfan, showcasing his latest works on paper and canvas. The exhibition opens on October 6, 2024, marking his return to Inna Art Space Hangzhou for another large-scale solo exhibition following Heated Bloom in 2017.

"Wrath," "Blaze," "Ferocity," "Mirage," "Abyss"—these potent elements emerge like flashes of sensation during Chen Dongfan's creative process. On canvas, they collide, weave, and unravel, each force overturning the other. For Chen, the birth of an abstract painting is akin to a fire raging freely or tides surging with rhythmic intensity. He sees painting as a journey to explore the state of life—where colors flicker like firelight, each stroke resounds with the echo of thunder, and waves of sea and heat conjure visions. Deeply seated emotions, often too overwhelming to bear in life, evolves into genuine strength.

Curated by Liu Beining, the exhibition will extend beyond the main gallery into residency and public spaces, creating a dialogue between different architectural settings. During the exhibition, artist and ethnomusicologist Gwendoline Cho-ning Kam will host a series of events including live sound performances.
